Run dialog with administrative privs?

Hi. My one W7 workstation's run dialog is set to run everything as admin:

I have a second W7 machine now and I want to get it to act the same, alas I cannot recall how I got it to do that. Anyone know? I have UAC slider at the very bottom.

Right click on "Run" and choose to run as Admin

That was fast, heh. Actually I just found it by accident. The admin run dialog I get is without doing anything special, just win-r. Turns out I had an admin cmd open at one point, killed explorer.exe when some program was giving me crap and restarted it from the cmd line which made an admin shell basically.

So, did you actually look at the Run box before you did the "trick"? Do you specifically know that is how it was created?

Does it survive a boot?

My run box has admin, but I do not know why.

That is how I created it, but sadly, it does not survive a reboot.

Sounds like my former networking problem. I finally entered a string value in the registry to set my desktop as master computer browser. I had done so many things with permissions and all that I'm not sure if that is what solved the problem but its working now!

Having never tried to set it this way - I do not know what to say. EVERYTHING I launch from Run is set to Admin Priv.

The former, perhaps, the latter, definitely. Neither apply here - directly.

I have been reading through a collection of reg files that I have amassed, but I have not organized them and cannot recall which ones I have applied.

It was never my intention to use Windows 7 on a daily basis. I thought I would install it, play with it, and wait for the retail release. I am certain that Windows 7 sux, but I have yet to determine how or why.

Doh!

That has to be the simplest one, and I would never have thoguht about it b/c I always run UAC enabled.

Strahan, you must reboot to disable UAC.

Confirmed. UAC is it.

But, check this out - my systray volume icon now presents the red X and sounds are playing properly.

The only Antman executed change was UAC enable.

Disabled UAC, reboot, volume icon back to normal.
