RW2 Files

I have a LumixG5 Panasonic camera which all of a sudden is producing RW2 files rather than DNG. The camera is set to RAW, has anyone any idea why this is happening and how can I rectify the problem. I want to shoot in RAW.

Hi The Adobe DNG Converter should be able to convert your RW2 files ...

The RW2 file format is Panasonic's own proprietary RAW format whilst the DNG is the Adobe open Digital Negative Format

I've not used this particular camera - I have just scanned through the online manual for the camera and can find no reference to the production of DNG files directly from the camera.

I would therefore assume that the DNG files you were getting are being generated on Import to the PC. I use Lightroom for my image management and I have the option to either Copy files in RAW format (RW2 for my Panosonic FZ45, ARW for my Sony DSLT cameras), or to convert to DNG format on import.

It may be that your image management application has similar options

If you camn let us know what program you use for uploading we can attempt to locate the option you need to change - Of course you can also convert to DNG using Adobe DNG Converter, (I also have DNG conversion options in Lightroom) or maybe within your program after import

Thank you very much for your advice which has been taken. I downloaded the Adobe converter and Bingo!! everything worked fine.
