Actually, had I read the damn manual, I would have realized that I had the wrong ports for the hdds.

Easy mistake, I've done it too. ASmedia/Marvell gets confusing too, some ASUS board have both with ASmedia serving up USB 3.0 and Marvell the SATAIII.
