I am going literally insane, i have been trying to get the sound to work on this #%$^$#@ windows for 4 hours now. I have the windows 7 RC version with all updates to date.

First i tried to install the SB Audigy SE driver, tried with the pack you guys made with drivermax and nothing works, all i get is this "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" every time. I even changed the pci slots with no help

After failing to install the Audigy i then turned to my onboard card the Realtek AK889a HD Audio card. I also installed the latest driver from the Realtek webiste like 10 times with 10 restarts but nothing works. I get the same damn error "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

Strange thing is if i uninstall the drivers then run the setup and i restart the pc after its over, windows automatically installs the winupdate drivers ....

I need help please or its back to win xp for me

*edit i read all the posts about these 2 sound cards and most people seem to have probs with the sound after the drivers are installed but i never had any sound....

Hello Hypnotise, welcome to the forums.

I don't believe that the Creative SB Audigy card works in Seven.... But I am not sure. The realtek HD Audio works pretty well however.

Try this: Go into device manager and find the Realtek Audio. Right click and select "Update driver". That might fix it for you.

thanx for the quick responce, i just did that and it says that i have the latest driver installed. In dxdiag i see that no audio card is installed and the same goes for the sound option in control panel.

Ok. So it looks like the typical Realtek audio situation. Installing the Realtek HD driver from HERE should fix it. Assuming that you can DL and install it.

I did that also like 10 times, after the restart windows seems to be installing the default drivers again for some reason. For example if i uninstall the sound drivers and i select check for hardware changes the sound drivers appear right back.
Maybe i should try to run win in safe mode? If so how do i do that caz i forgot :)

Interesting that it did not work..........

To start Safe Mode: When you reach the BIOS, hit F8, which should bring up extra options for start up. Select Safe mode with Networking.

Try uninstalling the drivers from safe mode, then restart (into safe mode) and reinstall the realtek ones.

Hi Hypnotise07, welcome to the forums!! :) :) :)
What I'd suggest is trying to go to ~Realtek_HD~ , accepting the EULA, and downloading the Windows XP driver. It may not work, but try it... Windows 7 SHOULD be compatible with Vista AND XP drivers.... Give it a go... Who knows...

I'm running Win 7 X64 (build 7229), I have an SB Audigy SE and everything is running fine. Can your system handle Win 7 X64 instead of X32? I have had zero issues with my sound card.

I am leaving work, so I will see what I can do to help you more in about an hour.

Well i got the realtek card to work after a reinstall of windows, the problem prolly had something to do with the sound card change and drivermax i dont know for sure just glad it got fixed.

As for the Audigy SE i have enough memory to run 64 donno if my proc can handle it i have a Pentium E2160
