Hi

I'm new to the forum today after already trying some of the fixes posted to earlier threads.
I've tried scannow at least 12 times over the last few days and also another fix posted in the same thread but nothing has worked so wondering if someone can help.

The files scannow cannot fix seem to be mainly regarding windows media player which i've had problems with for a few weeks now but no idea why...can only think its related to an update of some kind. I've tried Fixwin and Fix WMP without any success. There are too many files to reinstall individually and I'd probably do it wrong anyway. I don't understand a lot of the language or commands.

I have attached the latest sfc results and would grateful for any help
Thanks
Dizzy

Hi

This is the problem......scannow cannot repair corrupt files in windows 7
Does my message or the attached sfc.txt file not explain it properly...what else do you need to know?
I am unable to view pictures or edit files due to corrupted media player but there are also several other corrupt files. I don't seem to have a virus and all the fixes I've run haven't worked. I seem to have little control over the mouse, am unable to drag effects or files across when editing and explorer closes every time i try to view picture files.
Thanks Dizzy

Did all this begin after you had some Windows Update installed few weeks ago?
A background story of time when you believe it began to show up would be nice here.

What bothers me the most is "explorer" closes each time you try viewing pictures.
My impression is that your storage might be having some problems with sectors, since there are many errors everywhere.
Are you aware of the HDD's current state, e.g. does it have problems or is it good to go?

If there are many problems, you may as well consider reinstalling Windows completely, having had made back ups of your data (not on the same drive).

Also, if I don't mistake, the output in Prompt whilst scannow process is different and it does create or update the file of SFC's job. The last time I did SFC on my system was a year ago or so, I hardly can recall anything related to it. If it is possible that you can copy paste its output from Prompt (after its session), it could be useful for a check.

It might be worth checking the following apps:
1) "Event Viewer Logs"
2) "Reliability History"

You may find extra relevant information regarding applications which behaved unexpectedly.

Another idea is you could get SFCFix from: http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe (it's a download link)
Resource: Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions
(before using SFCFix, do go through the information on the resource link!)
See if it brings you any leads and information.

You could also take a look at this thread (optional) : Help with installing DLL files in Win 7 32 bit

Another question: What anti-virus app are you currently using?

(Windows Update component - should you feel there is something wrong about it)
Also, if you believe there are problems with Windows Updates, you may as well try restarting it, or checking up with the latest problems Windows 7 users had experienced from Updates. (In fact, there was one bit I came across: Windows Update is broken for some Windows 7 users - Windows 7 Help Forums - might be not useful to you but anyways, worth checking your Windows Update component as well, in addition that is)

In case you need or want to consider restarting Windows 7's Update component:
1) Windows Updates Activation - Windows 7 Help Forums
2) Windows Update - Reset - Windows 7 Help Forums
3) https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/971058/how-do-i-reset-windows-update-components

Also, make sure your current date and time is relevant to the real's one.

Hi Dizzy

from what i can see, you have problems with
Windows Media Player, Netframework, power configurations and IIS.

Are you sure this machine is malware free, theres a very unusual entry at the bottom of that report.
(or >>did<< you have a malware problem)

Have you got install media ?

Repair tool for NetFramework
https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=12&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjt-dGotoTYAhWFOsAKHZz8CuYQFghdMAs&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fen-gb%2Fdownload%2Fdetails.aspx%3Fid%3D30135&usg=AOvVaw3XamOJluKS0LitKjfinlYK

For Windows Media player
Control Panel >> Programs&Features >> Features (top left)
a new window will open UNTICK it
REBOOT
Reverse above.

Power settings
Do you have an OEM program for it, if so remove it
(use the inbuilt MS one)

IIS
Hopefully fixed by the WMP ON/OFF repair
