This started about a month ago and I have no idea why. After my PC sits for a while the screen goes black. The only way I can get it back is use the Power button to shutdown and then restart.. I will not say it does it everytime but is often enough so it is very annoying..
Here is how I have the Power settings:
As you can see the monitor should never change from when it comes on. Any help would be appreciated

Have a look at your screen saver. It may be set to blank screen.

When the screen is black, had you tried CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or CTRL+ALT+DEL to regain user control of the computer?

It went black this morning before I had read your post. I have the post you gave on my calendar on my desk. Next time it goes black, I will try those. Thank you very much

I tried both of those suggested cures and neither worked. This has me totally buffaloed.

I thought I had a solution (but not a cure). I left something running such as IE 11 and days that seemed to work but alas on the 4th or 5th day, back to shutting down no matter what.

I have not checked that if it happens again.
I have now restored Windows back as far as it would let me. That was not far only to May 17 and I don't think that is enough, but will see.
