screwed up ports big time

i made all my ports stealth with comodo firewall, now i have trouble connecting to games for windows live

any fix>?

erm reconfigure your firewall? Im not sure why your games cant connect , a firewall is there to hide all your ports thats one of their main functions , im assuming commodo is blocking them so you can either relax the firewall rules or set custom rules for your games ,

its a firewall mate its supposed to steath your ports , but im assuming you have reinstalled windows and not commodo so no your ports are not hidden forever your problem lies elsewhere , what exactly is your issue when trying to connect to an online game?

are all online games affected (im not sure what windows live is)?

edit scrub that i know what it is now.............so you cant connect to the service at all?

Did you re-install Commodo too? It's a tough application to get entirely rid of.

if i did a factory restore then its gone

@archie i cant download the update from them,i downloaded the newest version from there site but when i launch gta 4 it still says it needs to be updated but cant connect, the game worked before perfectly , i looked at troubleshooting it says port 3074 might be blocked

Hello,

To be honest i don't see any point in using third party Firewall application when you have a pretty good native one. Just use Windows Firewall and Windows 7 Firewall control Windows 7 Firewall Control : Sphinx Software for easier interface just use the Free edition. Still the Windows Firewall might be blocking them check the Microsoft KB i referred and add those Ports to Windows Firewall exception list.

Ok lets go back to basics

The best way to test if you have a firewall issue is to turn the firewall off completely

I assume since you have re-installed windows to a factory install you only have the windows firewall in place. If this is correct go into the control panel and disable the firewall.

If everything now works you need to set up the firewall to open the ports you require to work.

One thing to watch is that a lot of systems that come with a restore to factory settings also install some form of internet security suite that includes a firewall element. Check your system documentation and your control panel for entries from the likes of macaffe and Norton and if present uninstall or disable at lest the firewall
