SD Card Reader Issue

Since upgrading to windows 7 from vista, I can no longer delete files from my SD card. When I try to format it, it tells me it's write protected - but it's not. I thought maybe my SD Card was faulty, but I've since tried it on my parents Vista OS and it works absolutely fine.

Any help?

I've found some Vista drivers that may work to solve this problem in Windows 7. Please try downloading the appropriate one below:

If you have Windows 7 32-bit: Ricoh 5-1 Card Reader Driver HP Pavilion dv6710ea Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

If you have Windows 7 64-bit: Ricoh 5-1 Card Reader Driver HP Pavilion dv6710ea Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

hi karen, did you try loading the drivers suggested by WalkerA win team in compatibility mode for vista? right click the setup.exe file>properties>compatibility>run as vista>check "run as admin">apply and ok> exit right click on setup.exe file again and run as admin, hope that helps, good luck

I hadn't previously tried it the way you said, but I have now with still no success.

I tried updating the driver in device management, selecting the vista ricoh 5in1 - but it still tells me the sd is write protected.

I was wondering if deleting the windows 7 driver completely would help? I've tried deleting the driver from windows/system32/driver/sdbus.sys but it wont let me. Maybe it's not meant to be deleted?

hi karen, i'm stumped now , try reformatting the drive on your parents pc ,place it back in your pc copy a small file to it and see if it will then allow you to delete it maybe worth a try

CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT=FAT

Type in command line

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (SD Card)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT=FAT
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT

When i get to CLEAN ALL it comes up with an error saying the disk is write protect, even though I only just tried it on my nieces vista laptop (Which worked fine)

It is set to unlock. I've just found another SD card which I have literally just put into my laptop - it still doesn't let me alter anything on the card, so it's definitely something to do with the card reader and not my card. So annoying lol!

Go to pebbly driver link, reinstall the drivers, first.

If you go for the Factory recovery.
BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP first.

i would use that as a last resort , if everything else runs fine i would just reinstall the reader driver or invest a couple of quids in a usb/sd adaptor i use one myself for my sd cards
