Seagate External HD Software & 64 Bits ?

Hello,

I have 2 Seagate Free Agent external hard drives that I use for backup.
One is that older brown case type, that stands vertically.
The other is a newer style; silver case, lighted logo, and lays flat.

I am running Windows 7, the 64 bit version.

I now have these hard drives plugged in continuously as it is a pain to plug them in and out. They are used for backing up and storage very infrequently, so they just grind away all the time for really no good reason.

No sleep or hibernate software came with the units, but I did see the following on the Seagate site:

FreeAgent Classic Desktop Software
File Version: FreeAgent-DT-WW.zip

Apparently this download provides the sleep function that I would like.

Question: it says for 32 bit systems ONLY.

But, I am running a 64 bit OS, although I imagine nearly all my applications
are 32 bit. How does this work; is the OS smart enough to know that the Seagate application is 32 bit only, or does Seagate truly mean that you have to have an (only) 32 bit OS ? Think it'll work ?

Anyone happen to know of any other software available to provide a sleep or hibernate type function for external HD's ?

Thanks,
Bob
