As far as I can decipher, this message relates to an application error which can occur in many applications and I see many application vendors giving specific procedures to get over this specific error in the use of their applications.In any case it does not seem to be in anyway related to the actual test. So I don't know where to go. May be only Seagate Tech Support.

Let us wait and see what DavidE has to say and what he suggests.

In the meanwhile you can go ahead with the bootice plan. It is not going to make your drive any worse than what it is now.

In the screen print in post #103 what happens if you press F9 with the bootable seatools CD in the drive ?
Can you boot from the CD that way ?

I'm really not sure what else to suggest as far as testing / fixing.

I would contact Seagate support and see what they have to say.

With the cd inserted it does slow the process.
After pressing esc key with cd inserted I had to wait any 5-8 minutes and then I hit the f9 (to go into boot device options) key and now I see this screen.

Can you try the CD in another PC to see if it will boot up ?

Sure. I'll try it on the desktop.

I only ever this line blinking.

Maybe it did not burn correctly. II used iso burner.

But the burning process was quick and simple.

Is bootice x64 = 64bit operating system? There is also a bootice x86. Im after the 64 bit. Im assuming it is x64 file i need.

You could try burning the CD using the Windows built in burner.
Here are the instructions from Seagate.
How to burn an .iso image onto a CD

If that still doesn't work, you could try using the legacy version of the bootable CD ISO.

NOTE: If you have any difficulty booting with this version, please use one of the legacy versions of SeaTools for DOS.

I used the built in burner and then set the boot priority.

Then restarted with the cd/external connected. The beginning screen paused and went no further. I then took the external usb out and it took me into seatools for do.

But this might be no good if the external is disconnected.

X64 - download this if you want to run it on a Windows 7 64 bit system
X86 - download this if you want to run it on a Windows 7 32 bit system

I tried again... This time the process happened much quicker but seatools still don't recognise the external.
