My search function is out of control. No matter what the application that is running, search wants to take over.

If I am using Windows Explorer, the search field grabs the cursor and keeps selecting enter, enter, enter.

If I am a browser such as Iron, the search function turns itself on and selects the characters that I am entering into a field on a windows such as the user name or password and then searchs that window over and over again for whatever characters it captured during the entering of characters that ended up in the search window.

Scratching my head on this one.

I have an Acer Aspire running an upgraded Vista to Win 7. The computer was working fine, then it went crazy. I did a restore back to two weeks ago. I changed from a PS2 mouse to a USB mouse. Nothing fixes it.

problem resolution

Ran registry cleaner from Wise. Problem still apparent.

Ran multiple anti virus scans. Used MSE internally and ran F-Secure from their web site.
Only found some tracking cookies which were cleared.

Booted PCLinuxOS Phoenix Edition for xfce. Problem still occurred!

Changed back to keyboard that came with the ACER and problem went away. Two weeks ago, I had replaced the ratty cheap keyboard that came with the ACER and installed an older BenQ keyboard that had a much better feel to it. It appears that the old keyboard developed some kind of a fault that the Acer did not like! Sigh!

Time to take the older keyboard apart and clean all the connectors. I am going to break down and buy an old IBM mechanical keyboard or one its newer replacements.
