Secure Boot Violation - All down hill after that

Hi guys,

So yesterday I noticed my android phone simply couldn't connect to the PC via usb...simply wasn't recognised. I tried fixing it...installing/re-installing drivers...as a last ditch attempt I deleted the registry keys associated with it (anything to do with android HTC). I then thought I'd give windows update a go...maybe it could fix it..installed 7 updates, after I rebooted all USB devices were not functioning....reset the computer again. This time it loaded the "Secure Boot Violation" message....I wiped the HDD clean and did a fresh install. When windows started installing its fresh updates upon shutting the computer down for them to take effect, it would take hours for them to install..and after reboot during the configuration stage it "failed to configure - reverting changes" I was also given this error code once I got back into windows:

WindowsUpdate_80080005 WindowsUpdate_dt000
Error 0x80070005

I have since done 3 more installs and on a brand new drive - still no luck..and now I cant even install a single update. Ive tried just about every fix available by microsoft for those errors and no luck.

So I'm not sure if it's my fault for deleting the registry keys, the windows update or in fact I did receive a rootkit virus.

So far I've scanned with AVG, malware Bytes and aswMBR. All come back ok.
I have re-flashed the BIOS for good measure.
I have also ran an MBR fix with aswMBR
I have also run SFC in command prompt - no problems there
Local C disk has been checked during startup - "Disk is Clean"

OS is Windows 7 64-bit Home premium

However one thing I noticed is that my motherboard, Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1 is UEFI...I have launched the DVD off the UEFI boot mode for the DVD drive and reformatted the SSD as GPT...am I meant to do anything else in regards to HDD settings?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
You should only have to Optimize defaults and save and exit in the bios.

DVD install shouldn't be an issue
Installing well that has been a weird experience there
Sticking with Windows 7? The forecast calls for pain | ZDNet

Before you start download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance, and store them on a flash drive
Start and complete the install without an internet connection
Immediately after install is complete
Manually install KB3083710 and restart.
Manually install KB3102810 and restart.
Change your windows update settings I used Check for updates but let me decide when to download and install
Unchecked Give me recommended updates the same....

Restore the Internet connection and Activate windows
Then launch Windows Update search
After about 5-10 minutes you should have plenty of updates to download and install.
I would only download and install the Important updates first,

Another thing is if you see this update make sure it is not installed with any other updates
It needs to be installed all by it's self
It was not uncheck automatically which caused many others to fail to install

I would also install manually net framework 4.6.1
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=49982
And the newest update client

So I ended up just leaving the computer for 4+ hours....and behold all the updates were installed...configured after restart no problem... I then decided to upgrade to windows 10 and after did a clean install of it.

But now I have a new problem:

I have experienced substantial performance drops in all my games, some worse than others. A few examples: Planet side 2: Intermittent lagging, stutters....when I get closer to action...the FPS drops down to 15 or so...unplayable. This was never a problem in Windows 7.
Dino D-Day: While in spectate mode, looking around is flawless...the second I'm a player in game, when I look around its as if the gun is lagging behind. Looks as if its vibrating/jittering. Turning Vsync off makes this jitter even worse, having it as triple buffer offers best results but still terrible. Strafing is flawless its only when I move the mouse.

I did a clean of the GPU drivers using DDU in safe mode and re-installed the latest for windows 10. No dice.
Uninstalled realtek audio drivers. Nothing
Uninstalled norton. Nothing
All other drivers have been installed directly from the ASUS website for the motherboard (Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1)

So basically I have two options. Use broken windows 10 or use a semi supported windows 7.

Happy days.

Hi,
So why is win-7 considered "semi supported" ?

I'd take the win-10 issues here,
