Hello,

So I am stumped I have searched the net over and over. So I have come here for some advice.

Win 7
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
-- x64
- the original installed OS on the system?
-- 32 bit vista
- an OEM or full retail version?
-- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer
- What is the age of system (hardware)?
-- 1 1/2 years or so
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)

-- First Install of 7, trying to avoid a new install (11 JAN 11 for install)

I had read something about Biometrics being an issue, found Hot Fix from MS, that didnt work
then un-installed the biometrics device completly and didnt stop the crashes.

updated all of my drivers.

tried a registry cleaner...

I dont know whats up.

It was happening prior to an install of 8 gigs of RAM 3 before.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I am at a loss.
Thank you
Mike

Norton is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. I suggest that you uninstall Norton using the Norton Removal Tool in Safe Mode until your issue is resolved. Download Blue Screen friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Make sure Windows firewall is enabled!

Well I appreciate this and I will go through these steps as you stated.

The memory I have yet to see posted for a reason and that makes the most sense to me, I have tried quite a bit of things to solve this.

I will find the drivers and once thats done if I am still getting the BSOD I will uninstall norton, just norton is a pain to reinstall with the keys, need to contact them each time.

Thank you again and I will post once I run through the above.

Hello,

So the Memory test was fine, did 7 passes. No errors. Do you know of any good sites to find drivers at, obviously the Manufacturers site, but I am not getting any where with that, I will keep looking. I am going to uninstall norton now and see if that is causing this.

Thanks again

So its not crashing as of right now.

so with that said heres what I did.

I ran the memory test for 7 passes with no errors, 14 hours later.

Regarding the drivers
RimSerial_AMD64.sys Mon Nov 24 17:01:01 2008
Reinstalled verizon wireless access manager and RIM Blackberry desktop application.
It didnt change the driver but did change how it was displayed in device manager.
So maybe it was installed incorrectly, but correctly enough not to have win 7 say anything.

NWADIenum.sys Thu May 21 00:23:45 2009 --
I couldnt find this driver anywhere....

enecir.sys Mon Jun 29 03:17:30 2009
Funny thing about this driver is it is more up to date than the HP's site (driver download).
The ENRCIR.SYS goes to an IR remote (Kinda Wasted on me, I dont use it.) eitherwhich there were alot of post regarding crashes do to this driver, I found one post stating to download this driver (unfortunately I dont remember where) which is the current driver installed on my machine.

I never did un-install norton.... but will be the next step for me.

Well either which the system seems to shutdown, sleep and Hibernate fine now.

If for some reason there it doesnt I will repost the crash details and go from there

Thank you,

It may as you say be the incorrect installation of the Rimserial driver.

Anyway, Thanks for the feedback. Fingers, legs and toes crossed!!

Al righty then, by the way has not properly shut down, sleep or hibernated since the earlier email. I am going to unistall Norton now, I didnt before because it seemed to be fixed with the RIM install. Well I will un-install norton and post back, plus look at the 4 drivers.

Thanks again

Both your latest dump files have a 0x9F stop error which indicates a device driver. However they are both mentioning memory corruption.

After I eliminate one driver another one pops up as the issue.

I will run the Memory again but last time it was 7 passes and no errors.

Though I called HP because when I bought 7 it came with 32 and 64. I asked them if they could send me vista 64, so I had to pay for a system restore disk, 40.00 bucks, but its the easiest way out of the BSOD.

When I was speaking with the tech, he said that the HDX 18 - CTO 1200's are all having odd ball issue with 7 and that most of them (at time of my purchase) were designed around vista. So with that said I am going back to vista, 64 bit this time though.

I will miss the features of 7 but it will be nice to shut my laptop lid knowing it will not crash.

Once again thank you so much for your help,
2b
