Should I clear my computer history often?

Hi! Should I clear my computer history often, in order to make it less likely that my computer gets bothered by spyware? I like having history for ease of finding places I've been to before. However it is more important to me to keep my computer as free of Spyware (for free - I'm not rich) as is possible. So tell me your opinion on this.

I listen to Youtube music a whole lot every day. Do you think going there opens one up to more Spyware than in other sites?

Several times today (it used to happen about once a day) a video on Youtube that I was watching/listening to would all of a sudden hang and do nothing. I always fixed that by running CCleaner, Malawarebytes, etc. which fixed the problem each time. But now they're making it harder to fix so I have to go to my google settings and follow instructions I found online for fixing the problem. It helped. But it all takes time. So if possible, would like to not need to bother with fixing these kind of problems so often.

Hi well I can tell you that I do not clear my history that often maybe 2 times a year.

Thanks for your reply on that! Good to know! I finally figured out what the problem was. I am a grandma and we left one computer at our grandchildren's house for them to use. But when their older son comes, he sometimes watches bad things, and naturally also causes viruses on my system. I finally decided to get a new password on my Google chrome account, and to not share it with anyone over there, unless they're willing to keep the password away from him or any of their other older sons. Already, I see improvement! No interupptions while I listen to things in Youtube here!

can you confirm something for me
your specs state Windows Defender is this correct - its only a spyware defence not an Anti-virus
as a minimum you should be using Microsoft Security Essentials


Going back to history the MS clean-up tool is also usefull,
gives the option to select specific options, if you've never used it then the first run results will surprise you
But it wiil take a longish time to run, both at shutdown and next boot.

I have used Microsoft Security Essentials before. But am presently using Malwarebytes. But thanks for your suggestions. I'll copy them in case Malwarebytes ever stops working for me. Right now, after I did some tweaks, and also password-protected my computer, I have no more great troubles with invading viruses.
