Should i go back to windows 7?

After the end of support date, I wouldn't expect any new game to be backwards compatible with Win 7.
I do not agree with the above. It will be a few years before most new games won't run on windows 7.

Exactly why i 'rolled back' to 7. I - i can play my 'old' CD and DVD games again. Looks like Microsoft do'nt like users doing this - there's a windows 8.1/10 update( can't remember the number , that blocks the loading of these games and has to be removed. Before they're playable, again- Obviously, there is more profit made by selling downloadable games from the 'app' stores than loading from disk.
Wonder how long it'll be, before support for DVD drives is removed from windows !0 ?

Disgusting, isn't it? Is there another product where such blatant manipulation of the consumer is tolerated? Where is congress?

I've been needing to build a new PC for quite some time. In fact, it's been so long I may not be up-to-date on all kinds of important tech. The motherboard I saw when I watched a recent YouTube video doesn't look anything like the motherboards I'm used to...damn.

A lot of programs and games I use probably won't work on Windows 10. I had planned to upgrade, but after reading this, I'm gun-shy about Windows 10 again. I like my old games. In fact, I've only been playing old games lately. I like my old programs, too.

I had planned to simply keep my old Windows 7 computer, but I think it might be dying, so that's no longer a viable option. I hope you guys can help me fix it. If so, I'm definitely going to keep it around.

If my computer really is dying, perhaps I should have a Windows 7 installation on one hard drive and a Windows 10 installation on another drive. What's the easiest way to manage this? I used to swap out HDDs using trays. Maybe there's something better and easier?

What are the symptoms? That isn't a bad system on paper, it has usb3 and sata3. So it can run a pair of sata 3 connected SSD.

You can probably upgrade the processor to the next gen on that motherboard - i7-3xxx or i5-3xxx which are very cheap now.

Optionally, you should be able to boot from nvme disk on that board as well - requires a bios mod from win raid forum.

If your specs are correct you have no reason to upgrade, other than (imo) everyone should use an SSD as their boot drive. I posted some other stuff in your other thread...

W7 Virtual Machine

If the game isn't graphics intensive, you may be able to get away with creating a W7 Virtual Machine and installing the game in it.

I have an XP VM for my old games and I've only found one game that refused to run.

I have just installed Windows 7 lite, a cutdown version of W7, totally legal and you won't need to validate anything. Everything is now up and running and to be honest I don't need W10. It has to be burned to a disk not to a USB to install. I also use Fedora mainly for email prog. Evolution. It's only available in 32 bit though.
