It seems to be working well on the Intel320 and Kingston/Intel X25.

I think Intels suggestion to run it once a week is like some of us do Disk Cleaner and Defragmenter. Run it once a week or with Defrag analyze it at least that often.
At some point if things get too bad it Auto Runs as the testers have found.
It won't bother me to do it myself once a week instead of defrag as I do now on the HD.
It will finish up faster than the Defrag analyzer does now let alone the actual defrag!

But it is quite amazing if you think about it. 24TB of writes to a 40GB drive. I think trim must work quite well.

That remeinds me that the university of Karlsruhe here in Germany is just now testing a new network based on laser. The transfer rate is 36TB/sec. That could wear out our good old SSDs in a jiffy.

That will out drag a chevrolet.

Get the Intel toolbox. You can schedule it to automatically run whenever you want it to. It takes about 10 seconds to run.

I am from Germany but I lived more than 15 years in the US. My wife is from NY and since 1997 we spend 6 months per year in our Florida home. So I think I can follow you. And I had a few dragsters myself - Two 455 Starfire Olds in the 60's.

PS: what really sucks in my book is that I cannot use the Intel toolbox on my two Gen1 80GBs - the toolbox does not support Gen1's

Just got an 80GB Intel 320 Series SSD in my Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. It's a Core 2 Duo at 2.4Ghz, running 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit.

Quick video of a reboot, from power out to Word running on Desktop, 32 seconds; Essentially no tweaks. Only what I need running from msconfig, superfetch is disabled per Intel, everything else is default.

Dave, on extreme systems they have been testing SSDs. The Intel finally got to a 99% wear out, but it took 11.6TB of writes to do it. I don't think I could do that if I was trying. There is some really interesting info on how SSDs and trim actually work.

I've been following that thread, very interesting.

Pretty sure the wear out % is a count down, just looked at post #121 the 'Media Wearout indicator 89', then on post #158 the 'Media Wearout indicator 88' with 20TB Host Writes.
It's got a long ways to go...

Good decision, you will never question it, in fact you will ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
It is a truly amazing performance upgrade.

That's very close to the same as my Dell Studio 1737.
Just put my X25-V 40GB in it and it flies now, seems like a new laptop.
It's got two drive bays, so was able to keep the original 320GB HDD.
