That stinks. Oh well, the WEI score is bound to fluctuate up to 0.2, but usually only fluctuates by 0.1. So run it a few times and see if you get that 7.3

Your WEI score is way off base. A GTS 250 is not going to outperform a GTX 280, GTX 285, or GTX 295, which all get 6.8 and lower (my GTX 285 SC 2GB card gets 6.6, and many GTX 295 cards get 6.5 because Windows 7/Vista does not make use of the SLI). And this is independent of overclocking the card, as 648MHz core vs. 750MHz core makes no difference in the WEI score.

So either yours is fudged or your Windows 7 is scoring way off. Your WEI score for a GTS 250 should be around 5.9.

Thats because YOUR using the RC1 7100, upgrade to 7232 and your scores will be higher. my quad sli 98gx2 setup scores 7.1 when o.ced, but it will only rate the first card neways. 6.9 for a gts250 should be about right.

oh and my clocks are 600 core o.c. 755, 1500 shader o.c. 1850, 1000 mem o.c. 1150 (2300 affective) it makes a whopping .1 increase in WEI!

Not at all. Even a change from 1GB to 2GB of RAM makes about 0.2 to 0.1 difference, let alone 512MB.

Do some Googling for GTS 250 WEI scores, along with GTX 275, 280, 285, and 295 (which is two 280s in one card). And you'll soon see that yours is way off. In fact, no 2xx series card should get 6.9 or higher, unless it was SLI with Vista, and even then, the WEI score isn't supposed to be affected by SLI.

Let me give you some examples:

GTX 260 = 5.9 (multiple reports of the same number)

Even 8800 GTX is coming in around 5.8 to 5.9

This is from multiple sources, including http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=85467&page=21 and this forum's WEI posting thread as well.

Even others report 5.9 for similar CPUs to yours (Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz) that you list at 7.3. An overlcocked Core i7 is going to get 7.something, not a Core 2 Quad.

Sorry, have to call BS on your WEI scores. Multiple other reports don't lie.

What RAID controller are you using on what motherboard? Since you mentioned a Core i7 CPU (I assume you mean 920, not 620?), you're probably running on the Intel ICH10 southbridge RAID controller. If so, did you install the Intel Matrix software for it and enable Write Back Caching through it?

I'm even running a slightly older version of it, 8.7.

You mentioned "write caching" (ie: from the device manager) which is different from "write-back cache". Make sure you right click on the RAID volume in your Intel Matrix Storage Console and choose to enable the "write-back cache".

Yup, those numbers are bugged if that's what you're getting. It should be more like 5.9 to 6.8.

Don't check the second box unless you have a backup powersupply in case of power failure.
If you do & don't have a backup PSU, then you can have data loss. :shock:
I'm also using the Intel Matrix Storage Manager but I'm
not running in RAID although I don't think that matters.

Actually now that I read it again, it looks like there's data loss
either way with either box checked if you don't have a backup
PSU & there is power failure.
I've always had these settings though & never had any problems & I
don't have a backup PSU...

Of course none of this really matters because I have redundant failsafe backup images to restore in minutes for just such a case!

Not having backup battery only really matters if there's an actual power loss

the newer versions of WINDOWS 7 give higher graphics performance SUBSCORES! look through the thread and you will figure it out.
its probably more to the point of Microsoft has realized that they cant rate such high end new graphics cards such as the gtx295 and 4870x2 ect with such low scores so they have increased them so there is not so much pressure on graphics card manufacturers to make a card that is capeable of 7.9 when something like a gtx295 is getting scores around 6.9. especially as nvidia and microsoft are working together on this 7 project.
