I have Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am taking an online tutorial on HTML. I like to have two windows open side by side. One for my lessons and the other for that which I am working on. I have been sitting here for about two hours. Some times they will open side by side and other times not--most of the times they don't. One of the windows will open and fill the screen. If I restore the windows down, it might work once, but the next time it will fill up the screen. I even click on Proprieties on the IE icon and choose to open minimized. That didn't help.I've been to goodle looking at information on using Windows Snap and that doesn't seem to work. If I right-click on the task-bar and select, "Show windows side by side" it doesn't work--except for a few times it will. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

That's very simple:
Take one window by the " headline" and drag it to the left edge of the screen. Hold it there for a second (until the shape of a half screen comes up) then let go and do the same with the other window to the right edge.
if you drag a window to the top edge, it'll open full screen.

Microsoft even made a video guide for this Aero feature called Snap:
