Okay, here's the thing. Windows reserves space for the MFT such that it is always at the front of the disk to make sure the performance is okay. Are you guys sure it's the MFT?
Eitherway, that immovable file somewhere is being a pain, and I agree to just use 3rd-party software.
Also, about logical disks, you can always convert to GPT if it's feasable.
