Sick of Windows 7 denying me access!

I like 7, I really do and I have been doing everything in my power to try to give it a chance. That having been said...

First Issue
There are waaaay too many security restrictions. I'm running 5 computers over a lan all linked up with Input Director and sharing all of the hard drives. Do I really have to manually share EVERY folder?

Sharing the drives themselves does no good, access denied... Opening a rar file on one computer that is hosted by another... access denied... Along with a myriad of other 'ACCESS DENIED' issues. Is there any way to just open all the computers so I don't have to deal with the admin (owner?) privileges?

I mean, I am the owner, why do I have to 'run as ADMIN' on every program? I just want to disable any and all of these stupid access denied issues.

I did search on Google to find some fixes, but they were still limited to one specific issue or another... nothing that would just fix it system wide.

I had the whole system set up perfect with XP pro, it was like using one massive computer... now there is definitely a wall between the nodes and its driving me batty.

Please tell me there is a way to get rid of the security besides manually setting EVERY folder to share, EVERY external device to share, EVERY TIME I need to use it.

Second Issue
As I mentioned before I use Input Director so I can use just one keyboard and mouse to control the whole system. However, with ID turned on, the sensitivity on my Wacom doesn't work. It acts like a regular mouse. When I get the Wacom working (through the pen tablet settings in Windows 7) It treats both my mouse and the Wacom like they are pen tablets, thus overriding ID.

How do I get Windows 7 to recognize the mouse and Wacom as two totally different input devices?

Thanks in advance and I apologize if my first question sounds more like a rant. I installed 7 over a week ago and I just cant get the sharing thing ironed out. Frustrating as hell.

Thanks again.

For the first issue you should try 2 things:
1) Turn off UAC
2) Try this for getting ownership: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1911-take-ownership-shortcut.html

As to the second issue, would it be easier to use a KVM switch? I know nothing about that program, so I don't know if I can help there.

Also, is this set up through a HomeGroup? That makes it a lot easier to use.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate it.

Lordbob, Input Director lets me share the keyboard and mouse over the lan between as many nodes as I want without more wires or another device. It also allows me to share applications (or at least it did before Win7. I can drag say, a notepad from one screen to another even over different computers as long as the application is installed on the nodes I am working on. It really makes the 5 computers I have hooked to it act as one big computer.

UAC is turned off on all of my nodes. It was the first thing I did after installing 7. I downloaded the shortcut you mentioned, but the question I have is, this will allow me to more easily make my current account the owner of certain files... what I dont get is; I am logged on as admin... I am the freakin owner, why do I have to reiterate that to my computer? If I AM the admin and I am logged on as such... shouldnt there be an OWNER account if the admin account isnt enough? I have a pretty extensive firewall/virus scan/protection, etc... I think I'm having a harder time accessing my own files than a hacker would of breaking into my system.

Thats a really cool program, I will have to play with it.

It is because they don't want you to edit or delete important system files.
Though it seems that yours is a little more extreme. Probably because it is different computers.

It is. I do 3d graphics freelance and I have a 7 monitor desktop (over 5 comps) to help manage all of my stuff. Believe it or not I use every bit of the space.

Being able to use more than one computer seemlessly allows me to use more than one piece of software when the resources in one computer are tied up. I'll have 3dSMax or Maya open on one PC rendering, Photoshop on another doing all the odds and ends, and have music playing off of a third... and I still have free resources to jump on websites and such and look at mails and tutorials without worrying about lagging out my renders.

Im even having an issue where I can't uninstall stuff... Access Denied...

Is there maybe a way to log in as OWNER instead of just ADMIN?

There's always the option in the tutorial at the link below, though running in this account removes the "last chance" you'll get to stop rogue malware from accessing your system at will.

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable

I don't suggest this as an option to casual users as it can cause serious problems if this account is used instead of a standard account for everyday business.

Let us know how it sorts out.

I have a similar setup around my house, including two servers. If you use the same username and password combination on all systems, these issues go away. I don't experience any of the issues you have.

That actually sounds like the best advice right there.
