skype on Windows 7

  1. Close down Firefox completely: At the top of the Firefox window, click the File menu, and select the Exit
  2. In Windows, click
    Start​
    , open the All Programs list, and navigate to the Mozilla Firefox folder. In the Mozilla Firefox folder, select Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)...
    Firefox should start up with a Firefox Safe Mode dialog.​

  3. In the Firefox Safe Mode window, select Reset toolbars and controls.
  4. Click
    Make Changes and Restart​

Fix for Skype problem

First, close Skype using the aforementioned Task Manager.

Then,

1) Right click the Skype icon and select "Properties"
2) Select the "Compatibility" tab
3) Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)"
4) Click "Apply", then "OK"

Skype will now behave properly.
