I have a Windows 7 Ultimate Retail DVD (NON SP1) and according to showkeyplus it's a "EULA Type: MSDN" version, it's old.

I want to install a fresh copy of 7 onto a laptop with NVMe 1TB (P1) drive, however at boot no drive is seen as 7 did not support these drives, i have done some reading and found a few fixes on here but they all seem to talk about a SP1 disc, i have never bothered slipstreaming SP1 before as it was no big deal just bunging a disc in but now i NEED to do it, the problem is there seems to be amillion and one ways to do and i have tried rt7lite or something like that but it gives errors all the time so that is out, can anyone suggest the "easiest" way to do it, i have read some of the thread here Update your Win 7 installation media but it comes up with an error when asking for SP1 and i see no mention of SP1 in that thread.

My objective is to have some form of media either thumb drive or DVD that will allow me to instal my version of windows onto my laptop) Lenovo A475 with it's crucial P1 NVMe drive, as right now it's a door stop:(

All1

PS i have heard of something called DISM but have not done any reading on that yet as i was unsure if it was of any use to my needs at this stage

The only reliable way is to apply the win7 SP0 image. Boot into it, enter audit mode, run the SP1 executable, run the cleanup (dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded ). Generalise, shutdown Then capture into a new install.wim.

Audit mode and generalize process is outlined here PHOTOS

You don't need to do any of that. You seem to be confusing your license key with the installation media.
With the exception of some media from oems, installation media does not contain a license key.
You should be able to download the win 7 Ultimate installation media that already includes SP1 then you can use your license key with that.

When you have downloaded the 7 ultimate installation media, you can update it and include the nvme stuff by using Update your Win 7 installation media

To add to the confusion, it is possible to use any of the official iso files that include SP1 - because in spite of their names, they all contain all of the editions. For example, it might call itself Home Basic, but it also contains Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate.

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate Retail DVD (NON SP1) and according to showkeyplus it's a "EULA Type: MSDN" version, it's old.

Iirc msdn keys were given to members of msdn, later renamed technet. It is also possible they were given out by MS for promo purposes.

Since you are planning to use it on the same machine, you could back up the activation you currently have.
:ar: pretty pictures how to

Then install your win 7 SP1 media ( after you have updated it with nvme stuff) to your nvme disk . Then restore the activation you already backed up.
