Hi, before yesterday my desktop computer would take 30-50 seconds to go from power off to desktop. Then suddenly one morning it is taking at least 5 minutes. It goes to 'Starting Windows' and stays at that for 90% of the time. I've tried unplugging all USB devices, I've scanned my whole computer, I've done a system restore point to a point where I had no problems yet the problem is still here.

Also the computer takes just as long to shutdown. Problem is just starting and during down the PC.
My specs are:

Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40GHz
4GB ram
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

What more info can I supply?

Many thanks :D

For future references, please fill in your system specs in User CP.
I would first try to boot up in safe mode, see how long it takes, because it might be a hardware problem (when one of my RAM sticks was dying, it went the same way for me)
If it goes right, make sure there isn't any driver conflict, check under Device Manager if any driver is shown with any notification, if so, post the Error code.

Download Autoruns for Windows and then save the file as a .ARN file. Place the file into a zipped folder and then attach in your next post with the paperclip icon seen in the post editor section.

I would suggest unchecking all the entries apart from these programs:
  1. MSC (Microsoft Security Essentials)
  2. IntelliPoint
  3. IntelliType Pro
  4. SysTrayApp
  5. amd_dc_opt
