Solved Slow Start Up

Gooday all. I was having a look around the site to see if I could find a post related to my problem, ie, slow boot up. One of the suggestions was in MSCONFIG have a look at the start up tab and see how many services were in there. I checked and found 11 and I don't need any of them right at start up.
I then checked the services tab and there were in excess of 100 entries there, not all of them running. I checked the hide all windows services and was left with about 14. I would like some advice on rectifying this slowness, although no one is going to die just because my computer takes 3 minutes to start, I would just like it running better. Speccy included below.

I just noted that my specs on the left are for my lappy not my desktop, which is the machine this query is about.

Hum jamtin mate another 2GB RAM would go a long way. As a matter of interest in the Start in msconfig you should really keep at least the OS and security ticked.

Some of this may help if you haven't used it already an if you don't mind losing some of the "bling" like transparency.

I normally disable all and keep all Display drivers and network drivers ticked but any other software (Skype, BitTorrent) will dramatically slow the system down. You should see a dramatic difference.

Yep I think he did Webby and like I said it is not a real good idea to untick the OS and security in startup mate

By the way have you been through the tutorial I sent jamtin yet if not very worth while if you don't mind losing a bit of the 'bling"?

No problem. I wasn't too sure what he had tried, what do you mean OS? It won't allow you to disable the OS within startup.

You don't need any of the Startup or Services (after Hiding All MS) except your AV running at boot unless you use gadgets, sync'ing or want a messenger starting with Windows.

If nothing including the hardware tests resolves it then try Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums

Your OS is within 'Boot' tab. Startup is program's that run on startup.

Yes that's for your SideBar not the operating system. It's not possible to disable the operating system via startup. See how you have another instance of it below it disabled? It doesn't have no effect.

Well take another look WebSpyder and tell me that is not the OS I have circled

John, if you look to the right it says its the sidebar (or gadgets). You want to keep that checked if you use gadgets.

There are a few others like Skydrive, StikyNotes and MSE which may also be listed as the MS OS, but no critical System services appear in the Startup list.

Thanks for all the responses,especially from another silly old fart like me.I'm also in Australia but formerly (over 50 yrs) from Somerset.
As advised I have re ticked AV and OS and am now working through the tutorials and advice. Thank you all again from the land down under. James.

Sorry jamtin mate I was not correct in thinking the OS was the actual OS if you open it sideways it shows just th sidebar so just untick it again mate. But I am still leaving my Kaspersky ticked come whatever LOL!!

Oh arrived 1978 from Sussex, and just trying to find somewhere to stay as I am going to visit my folks in Wiltshire in April - hopefully
