[Solved] Slower bootup after switching system locale?

Hi all,

I normally have a quick splash/log-in sequence ever since my first installation of Win 7 until recently. Last night I switched system locale for the first time in order for me to read some garbled text and as I expected the splash and log-in took a while to load perhaps due to switching to another language pack. I didnt do anything or make integral/trivial changes to the system files or apps and I didnt hook up the net the whole time, just read a few text then save them in unicode. When I was done I switched system locale back to english, the log-in process also took a bit while. But now, everytime I enter splash/log in it also took the same time as if I switched languages. I'm reliving my Vista days all over again and its not very pleasant! Please help... anyone?

Thanks for the reply marsmimar. I tried using the win7 restore feature before and it gave me a blank desktop without even a taskbar so I had to reinstall the OS again. Since then I wouldn't even entertain even the flicker of that idea anymore. lol

Anyway I found the cause... While the problem recurred I noticed my wacom tablet wasnt working even if its plugged. Uninstalled then re-installed again and booting sequence became normal again! Its extremely stupefying to even think that a not so important component could cause problems like this.

Thanks again

Glad you were able to get things working again. Isn't it amazing how a relatively minor component can cause so much grief?
