Solved Slower than usual boot times.

Okay not sure why, but I have a pretty good idea why, my computer is taking longer than it used to to boot up. About 2-3 weeks ago I was getting about 30-45 seconds to hit the power button and get to the desktop ready to roll (aside from inputting my log in password). Here lately it has been taking up to several minutes to boot up.

Mind you, I have been doing some customization to my rig as of late (Changed my log in screen background, and been attempting to change the windows start orb) I'm thinking it has something to do with the explorer.exe file as the problem didn't start until I used "Windows 7 Start Orb Changer" to try and find a decent looking start orb, but to no avail and restored it back to the original using the same program.

I have my original explorer.exe file backed up to a USB flash drive in case this is the problem, I haven't tried it yet though, I would like to seek out other information regarding the problem before I do this. Any information you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Any information regarding the change of the Windows Start Orb is welcome as well, although the main concern of mine is the boot time.

Changing start button or log on screen does not make the boot slower.

At first you check how many programs are starting alongwith windows. Press the windows button+R in your keyboard to open the run box, typr "msconfig" (without he quote marks) there, to open the system configuration window . Go to the startup tab, and see how much entries are there. Uncheck those all, but the antivirus.

Let us know if it makes any difference or not !

Blah, never mind I fixed it... stupid explorer.exe file, everything is running quick and easy and back to 30-45 second boot time. #feelsdumb

You can always download soluto. install and reboot. Open it up and it'll show what items are taking more time during the boot. You can then delay their launch or remove from startup.

Regarding the start orb, download the below app and make sure the option 'Replace by patching memory', this way you won't be 'hacking' the explorer.exe file.

Yeah, the startup items list only contains applications that I want to run at startup. I could probably shave a few seconds off by closing some of them, but that would be pointless unless I wanted to show off my epeen (which I have no intention of doing). Was just getting frustrated with the long boot times, I installed an SSD for a reason and it was taking almost several minutes to boot.
