Small problem with return button

Am having a slight problem with my Google searches in that I type a query click on a response - if that is not what I want I click on the blue return button at top left it will not go back to results.

Any suggestions as how I can put it right please?

The most likely possibility as reported by others may have something to do with how ads (particluarly Google Ads and doubleclick.net . . . which Google owns) are inserted into the back button. Sometimes clicking the button multiple times (not a good solution) will work.

It could also be a browser add on that's interfering with the back button. You could disable all add ons then enable them one at a time to see if there's one specific add on causing the issue.

Hum have been through all the add ons but none seem to work and some are for my security stuff. Seems like the only thing that works is a quick double left click to take you back to the search page.


Ah well that isn't so bad as having to close and reopen the search again

One more possibility if you'd like to give it a try. IE9 has a choice between software rendering and GPU (hardware) rendering. Hardware acceleration (rendering) uses your computer's GPU to speed up some tasks including viewing web pages. Turning this feature off might help. If it doesn't just reverse the steps to turn it back on.

1. Open IE > Tools > Internet Options (or Control Panel > Internet Options).
2. Click the Advanced tab and select "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering".
3. Click OK then close and reopen IE for the change to take effect.

No worries mate I'll give that a go as I tried all the rest and if it means a double click well it only means I'll wear my left middle finger out a but sooner eh?

Now I have just noticed something rather interesting and may be something that is affecting the IE search - I Google for example IBM and click on the site refs get the IBM site up and then have to double click to get back to the refs search but only need one click to get back to Google search box.

This is happening on all my machines now - perhaps a network problem?

Hum well I don't know if it was just a glitch or adjusting the mouse hover time in Brinks optimise tut but the button is back to normal.

I think it is Google sticking their corporate nose where it doesn't belong. Going back from a Google search is the only time the back button doesn't work.

Couldn't agree more mate I reckon Google has got out of hand way too big and "corporate".
