Sony Vaio And Windows 7 Crashing

Evening All,

I have a sony vaio and everytime a play a dvd it causes the DVD to stop and when I go to Task Manger it says windows explorer has stopped responding and needs to restart. they only way I can get it to play again is to reboot! then it will do the same again!

This is starting to annoy me now does anyone have any suggestions

Do you have a backup from before the problem started that we can restore from?

Do you have a win 7 dvd that we can do a repair install with?

does it do the same thing when booted in safe mode (F8)?

Evening,

I dont have any back up's only of data

I dont have a windows 7 dvd as I upgraded from Vista using the official sony Vaio upgrade path

I cant get the DVD to play in safe mode? maybe me but doesn't want to play like it would do when windows boots up normally.
