Sony Vaio E Event Service - Function Keys return to manual startup

I have a Sony Vaio E System Model SVE1511A1EW. I have noticed when I want to use the Function Keys F5 and F6 for brightness and F3 and F4 for volume the do not function at all. I have looked on google and found that in Administrative Tools, Services and then Vaio Event Service, this was set to Manual. I have changed this to start up on Automatic about 10 times and it keeps reverting back to Manual from Automatic and the same thing happens again. Is there a solution to this as it is annoying.

Probably the easiest way would be do download and reinstall Sony's function key firmware, and make sure they're successfully placed in Startup. If that doesn't work you could reset the services' permissions.
