Sound not working at all after clean install of Windows 7

Yeah it has SP1 on it.
Do you really think this could fix it?
I'm tempted to open the case to check if it's a hardware problem.

If I do, what can I do to prevent frying anything in my computer?
I don't have a wrist strap btw

Last time I clean installed, my headset worked without even installing Realtek, should I try it like that first? or install realtek as soon as its done?

Hi,

Windows will try to download a Realtek driver automatically for you - I would just let that happen without manually installing drivers at this stage.

Regards,
Golden

Eh, I guess it's the only option I have.
Last time I clean installed, my headset worked without even installing Realtek, should I try it like that first? or install realtek as soon as its done?

I just asked you if you followed the Best Practices for handling Win7 drivers in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Did you even read them? If you did why would you ask that question? :geek:

9. The installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Just in case, have your Wireless or Ethernet LAN driver on flash stick or CD so you can install it to get online quickly - these can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer . Then enable hardware driver auto-updating and check for optional Updates.

10. Any drivers still missing in Device Manager after several rounds of Updates can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer or device, along with possibly needed hotfixes which you can also wait to see if you need.
Driver Install - Device Manager
I would not replace any drivers given by the installer or optional Updates unless performance problems point to that specfic driver. This is not XP - Win7 is the authority on it's own drivers.
• Unknown Devices are often SID card readers, can be traced using Hardware Identification.

• Co-processor, USB and Storage controllers are elements of the chipset.
As I suspected this is likely another case of drivers being handled using XPired methods in the first driver-complete Windows.

Maybe some dumb questions or i might have missed this info, but

Have you tried normal PC speakers using the BACK panel audio outputs?
Is this a custom build or a Pre-Built PC (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) ?
If it's a custom build, who built it, installed OS, and configured it?

Do you have a TV or Monitor with built in speakers you could try using an HDMI connection?

Are you capable and willing to try hardware changes?

From what i see, i think you could remove the Nvidia GPU and use built in Video.
That could eliminate any Nvidia/Onboard Realtek audio conflict.

What sound driver did the installer give you?

Is there a newer one offered via optional Windows Updates?

If you want to install TeamViewer with all defaults used during install, then PM me back the ID and password, I will connect but need you to be there to see if sound starts working.

I downloaded the Nvidia drivers and de-selected the Nvidia HD audio, but I could roll it back if it could cause problems.
Will you be available to do Teamviewer later on?

Did you run for awhile with only the drivers given by the installer and optional Windows Updates to know if they worked first, before installing the factory drivers?

This was the point of the passage in the tutorial which I quoted for you.

Yes, I could connect later but I cannot hear if your sound starts working.
