Solved SP1 Error Message and Code........Help!

I tried to reinstall SP1 after yesterday's BSOD after installing it, which I followed with a system restore.

I tried twice this morning and both times I get a message during the installation phase that reads:

the program can't start because sqmapi.dll is missing from this computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this.

Then after I hit ok, I get error c0000135

I have just average computer skills, so if you have a solutiuon for this issue, please remember that!! Thanks in advance.

and now my recovery won't open????? it's like it's not even there????

Try performing SFC scan on the computer.

At least your problem has been resolved, jailbirdslanger.

I've posted a link to this topic in case DBone forgot where it was posted. The suggestions posted by JMH would be a good start toward solving the problem.

Thank you everyone who helped. I ran the command prompt file system tool, and it found, and repaired my problem. I now have my restore back. I ran it a 2nd time to make sure, and it found nothing the 2nd time.

I then reinstalled SP-1, and it downloaded and installed with only one small issue. It's the same issue I had yesterday when I originally tried to install SP-1. ( http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/146300-sp1-intel-graphics-problem.html )

I installed SP1 today and everything appears fine except in my programs/features list.

Before the update, it showed 33 programs installed @ 1.78GB. No the list shows, 33 programs installed @ 37.3GB!

Looking at the list, "Intel Media Graphics Accelerator Driver" shows 37.1GB!??

My computer works fine and in the "My Computer" page is says, "OS C-Drive 197GB free of 218GB" which is the same as before the SP-1 install.

Is this a Dell thing like reporting the wrong program size, or is it real?

What should I do if anything?"

I have never installed a driver, and really don't know how. Does anyone have any links or ideas where I should start?

Hi, DBone.

There is an issue with SP1 and Intel Graphics Drivers. From Microsoft KB article 2498452:

Check whether you have Intel integrated graphics driver Igdkmd32.sys or Igdkmd64.sys and whether you upgraded the driver

Windows 7 SP1 will not appear in Windows Update if update 2454826 is not installed. Windows Update will not offer you update KB2454826 if you are using one of the following Intel integrated graphics drivers:

• Igdkmd32.sys (32-bit), versions 8.15.10.2104 through 8.15.10.2141
• Igdkmd64.sys (64-bit), versions 8.15.10.2104 through 8.15.10.2141

These drivers are known to cause problems with certain applications that use D2D (Direct2D). For example, if you use these drivers together with Windows Live Mail under certain circumstances, Windows Live Mail could crash.

To check for the Intel integrated graphics driver and driver version, follow these steps:

2. Click the Display tab.
3. Note the driver and driver version.

Well, I some how did it. I ended up at Dell's website and they had a tool to scan my computer to see what drivers I have an which ones need updating. I installed their driver download manager tool, and that made it a snap. I reinstalled the Intel driver that was the issue, and it worked perfect. My program list now shows the correct installed program total, and my machine is smooth as silk.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED...........I NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT WITHOUT YOU!!!!

I am having a similar issue but does not look like HP has the driver yet. Once I get back home next week I will have to get the driver from Intel. See my post here:
