I'm running 7 Pro 64Bit.
When I take a look into the Task Manager, I find the splwow64.exe process; even if my printer has been off all day. I can end the process at anytime, but I was wondering how do I keep this process from starting at bootup & have it start only when I use my printer - Canon MP600?

If you set it to manual, it may fail to start when needed. Or remain started all the time. It's automatic default is to be on at boot, and of course if you disable it, it will more than likely never run until you go back and change the setting again.

Some printers will actually run without it though. You could rename it, do a restart and see if you have functionality without it.

splwow64 is a child of the parent spooler (spoolsv, 64bit), so renaming it might break printing altogether. The spooler memory is pageable, so I'm not sure what you gain by stopping a service that is doing nothing nor taking up otherwise usable CPU or memory resources unless in use.
