I'm been looking into getting a SSD for some time now and have found two possibilities.

The first is this: OCZ 60GB Vertex Plus SSD - 2.5" SATA-II - Read.. | Ebuyer.com

The second: OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD - Solid State Drives | Ebuyer.com

The SATA 3 drive (2nd one) has much better Read/write speeds than the first drive which only supports SATA 2. My computer only supports SATA 2, so is there any point in getting the SATA 3 drive, am I going to get increased speeds with it over the SATA 2 drive even though I only have SATA 2?

Cheers

Hello JDY,

Considering that's there's only a 3 pound difference in price, I would recommend to go with the SATA-III SSD to help be more future proof if you should upgrade your motherboard in the future with one that has SATA-III ports.

The SATA-III SSD (525 MB/s Read, 475 MB/s Write) will still give you much better performance over the SATA-II SSD (185 MB/s Read, 90 MB/s Write), but you will be limited to the maximum 300 MB/s bandwidth of the SATA-II port on your motherboard.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

yea that is what I was going to do. Hadn't realised till recently how similar the two prices had got. For £3 it will hopefully be worth a little bit more speed :D

Cheers
