Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Here's what happens at start up:
Start computer, light blinks about 4 times in upper left corner of monitor, monitor goes totally black for slightly
more than 3 minutes then the boot process starts & from there on in every thing goes ok.It is the 3 minutes
it takes to start the boot process that is the killer.I have no idea what happens during this time.Hopefully someone can tell me what happens & how to cure it.Thanks for any help/info

Do you see the BIOS splash screen? How about the "Starting Windows" screen?

Start with entering the BIOS and set it to "Optimized Defaults" F10 to save and restart. Report back.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Sorry had to leave for awhile but I'm back & will stick with it as long as you do.
There is no option to set defaults.I checked every thing I could find in the bios & as far as I could tell
every thing is ok.I have a Asus P54G41T-M LX Plus mother board (is that helps).Like I said the blinking light comes on for a few seconds then it quits & the screen is totaly black & nothing is moving. After 3 minutes the screen flashes on with a dual boot screen but I have never had 2 os's installed.this stays on a few seconds then it goes into starting windows & every thing from there on in is normal.I think the bios is doing some kind of set up or something but I don't know what.

What might give you some visibility is to look into your Boot options in the BIOS screens and see if there is something that will allow you to see the POST (Power On Self Test) messages.
