Starting Windows Screen ...

... is off-center after a local power outage occurred. This is the display screen just before the login screen appears, the window that displays "Starting Windows" and the pulsating red-green-yellow-blue logo.

Login and subsequent screens are all normal. All operations, utilities and apps function normal.

I decided to re-visit that post. The first reply resolved my issue.

unfortunately, the fix only resolved the issue for that session. Subsequent starts and the issue returns.

I presume you tried all the suggestions in that Seven Forums link that I posted in Post#3.

Also are you able to run on the motherboard Graphics Driver, rather than any added Graphics Hardware. You would need to uninstall the added Graphics Driver & remove the Graphics card, then connect the monitor to the Monitor connection on the motherboard.

i believe i do not have 'added graphics hardware'. i am no s/w-h/w-computer geek. this pc is strictly stock, no frills/add-ons. therefore, my understanding of my specs tell me that my 'graphics' are on a printed circuit (mother?) board in the computer. i open it occasionally to blow out the dust and do not recall seeing more than one circuit board in there.

One thing I've found is the connection type can make a difference.
I've got multiple connections from a PC to a monitor, i have HDMI and VGA connected right now.
Depending which connection I'm using, it can display differently during boot-up.
To try this you would need another connection type on the PC and the monitor.
Then you would need to add the cable type to use that connection.

thx 4 reply DavidE. As stated, strictly a stock setup with no change since day I brought home and setup almost 10 years ago. Looked forward to a simple no-brainer permanent qwik-fix like the one above (but that one only lasted for one boot). Since all else is humming along and this ol' Yeller has been quite reliable, I guess I'll not sweat this few seconds of ugly.

What was the fix that gave you one proper start up. Perhaps investigating what that was might be worth trying. If it fixed it once, then it perhaps it's providing a clue to what the cause might be.

It seems that the issue might be related to either the monitor or the graphics driver, as doing what you said worked, if only for that start up, probably means that the issue is not related to the Windows OS as it's occurring before Windows actually starts.

Sudden power problems can reek havoc with electronics. I get a lot of power outages here & I have to be wary of electrical storms as well, so I have invested in a UPS which are well worth the cost. The UPS I have is a fairly basic one & I run the desktop computer, monitors & modem from it, so when there is a major outage I have time to shut everything down & during a brownout or a very short outage I can just keep going without any interruption.
