Solved Startup folder missing

My Startup folder has disappeared from the Start menu.
Any ideas to get it back?

Hello Ken,

The Startup folders are located at the hidden folders below. Do you still have them if you manually navigate to it?

C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

You can also type the command below in the Start Menu search box and press enter to open the user-name location above.

shell:startup

I navigated to the first link and found it's 'disabled' I tried right-clicking on it and going into 'Properties' but couldn't see a way to 'enable' it. Would deleting the word 'disabled' do it ?

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup takes me to an empty folder.

I can get to 'startup' from 'msconfig' OK

I'm not sure what you mean by "disabled". Could you post a screenshot of this?

Thats just a folder named "~Disabled" ....Whatever software you were using to manage the startup folder created that.

~Disable appears to just be a folder in the Startup folder. Is there anything in ~Disable? If not, are you able to just delete ~Disable?

Also, check the Properties of the Startup folder to see if it has the Hidden box checked or not. If so, unhide it.

Some confusion. The word is 'Disabled' not 'Delete'

Anyway, I opened the folder and it just contains a shortcut for Opera browser.

The Hidden box is not checked in Startup folder properties.

See if moving the Opera shortcut in the Startup folder itself (if you wanted Opera to run at startup), then delete the ~Disable folder.

I deleted the 'Disabled' folder and now have an empty Startup folder.

Startup folder is still missing from Start Menu but I think we should leave it at that. It's no big deal and I can get at 'startup' thru 'msconfig'
I only have 3 items starting.

I think we may almost be there if you would like to try one more thing. In a elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below and press Enter. You may need to log off and log on afterwards for it to be applied and return (unhide) the Startup folder to the Start Menu

attrib -h "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" /s /d
