Steam Games Question

I'm planning a system rebuild shortly to swap SSDs. I've seen some suggestions that people install Steam games to another partition. Can this be chosen during the Steam install process? I'm fine with redownloading the games. I'm just curious as to the best way is to go about this.

Mainly, I'm hoping to have all of my Steam content stored at D:\Steam, where D is my data/storage drive.

If you install Steam on D:/ then all games will be installed on D:/.

You can move/copy your current steam folder to any drive and then install the steam app and point the install to the location of your steam folder. No need to redownload all of your games.

After you move the folder, install steam, you will be up and running in minutes.

My steam folder is 8 years old and I just move it from drive to drive as I upgrade.

I think some games still have save folders on the c drive under documents so save those if you want your game saves.

You can move just your steamapps folder to Drive D.
You can do 1 of 2 things.
Install steam here in its own folder after the re-0install of windows then move the steamapps folder that contains your games back over to the directory.

Or......

Make a Steam folder and drop your steamapps folder in it.

When you re-install the OS, just install steam tour OS drive. Then, use something like junctionlink magic and move the steam apps folder.
This should be fairly easy as it will be empty, and the new location conatins all your games.
You'll just need to re-install/activate & setup all your games but not redownload them.

With this methos, Steam will be on your SSD, but all games, and future downloads will be on the HD.
You can so the same trick on that drive if for example you want to move just one game or 2 to a SSD.
