I have Window 7 Home Premium, 32 bit & HP D5160 USB printer.
Thought I had the problem fixed. I was able to install the printer as a network printer on my laptop by turning on the windows firewall. The printer works fine on my desktop computer and will work fine when I connect the USB cable to my laptop. When I try to use it as a network computer from my laptop and check printer properties, I get the following msg:
"Function Address 0x66baa4e1 caused a protection fault
(exception code 0x000005) some or all property pages may not be displayed."
I can print to another network printer I have with no problems. I can print from another computer to the network HP D5160 with no problems. The only thing I can't do is print from my Laptop, thru my router, to the network HP D5160. I have turned on all print and file settings that I can find.
I'm now totally frustrated. I've tried everything HP support has.:(

Yes, I have the most current driver from HP. How do I set a static IP address for the printer? I currently go thru a router.

You may have to re-install or re-setup the printer on the laptop. I'm guessing the laptop may think the printer is still connected to the USB port. Delete the printer and run the install/setup utility again. Then select the "already configured wireless printer" option. It's something like that, anyway. I have an HP laserjet professional P1102w.

You would setup the static IP address on your printer directly through the menu settings.

Refer to your manual for this.

Alphanumeric's suggestion is also good. Give that a go - He may be best to help you as he has the same printer.
