I let @Torchwood handle the MGA report.

Your chkdsk is only a scan, it doesn't do anything else. This means that, for example, if there are bad sectors present or the MFT needs correcting, nothing will happen.
If you want to run chkdsk fixing stuff, you would need to add the /f parameter. If any readable data needs to be recovered you would need to use the /r parameter. The /r includes the functionality of the /f parameter, this means that if you use the /r parameter the /f parameter doesn't need to be added.
For example on a Windows partition having the letter C:, I usually suggest to run /r parameter:

chkdsk C: /r

This command scans the C: partition for any error, attempts to fix them and if readable data is present in a bad sector it'll be moved to another sector from the reserved part.

windows update wont work! it gets stuck at searching for updates and doesnt do anything left it for hours on end and nothing.

tried to activate windows it gave me an error code 0x004E003
software licensing services reported it failed or something like that

Hi Julie,
In that case we need to
Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

nothing popped up and i cannot use the key on the laptops case it is unreadable and completely diff from the key i used to get the copy of windows 7 before i reinstalled. i can onyl read half the key on the sticker and its nothing like the key that i got from the info on here. Microsoft agent verified its the correct product key.
