I get a blue screen with a lot of writing on it but the main issue is this "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant" How do I get past this ?

With only 2G of memory don't even think on 64 bits. You have to go with Win 7 32 bits.

It is an old computer. Does it has a SATA or PATA drive cable?

Do you have a DVD or a USB win 7 installation drive?

I am not sure of the stats but when I bought it,it came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed.
I am now seriously considering installing Ubuntu ( Linux ) and Virtual box,and installing ( in Virtual box ) Windows 98,Windows XP and Windows 7.What do you think ?

We are talking about the hardware that is described on "My computer", don't we?
CPU: AMD Athlon II Dual Core 2.3Ghz
Memory: 2048 MB DDR SD RAM
To run on a Virtual machine you need at least 8G of memeory.

There is a System two where you can insert the Lenovo G40 specs

- - - Updated - - -

There are win 7 drivers for the Lenovo G40. So it's possible to install win 7 on it.
You must set BIOS properly. Disable fast boot, disable secure boot, select OS as other or Legacy etc

Reset BIOS or load defaults.
Set Disk mode to AHCI, not RAID
For UEFI-GPT install, Select OS mode = UEFI or Select OS mode = other + UEFI (depends on BIOS).
For Legacy- MBR, select other or CSM (depends on BIOS).
Disable fast boot and secure boot.
Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

If you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.

During POST, press F12(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name).
Select USB UEFI (Name) to install as UEFI-GPT.
Select USB (Name) to install as Legacy-MBR
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.
