Strange RAM problem with Intel DP45SG extreme motherboard

My PC Configuration

OS : Windows 7 Ultimate x86
CPU : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.33GHz
Motherboard : INTEL DP45SG
Memory : 2GB Transcend DDR 3 -1333
Graphics Card : NVIDIA® GeForce 9400GT (512 MB)
Sound Card: IDT High Defination Audio
Monitor :ASUS VH196 Black 18.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Screen Resolution : 1440x900
Hard Drives : Hitachi 1 TB HDD & Samsung 320 GB HDD
and its working great ....

Problem is i want to increase my RAM, so I bought a Transcend 2GB DDR 3 -1333 DIMM CL9 RAM today which is same model as the current 2GB RAM that's running on my PC but the new RAM is not working on my PC !!! I tried the new RAM on an other motherboard and it worked ... then why isn't it working in my motherboard ?

Hi Nazbir and Welcome to SevenForums

I have two questions, 1. are you overclocking the CPU, if so bring it back to original spec. 2. are you overclocking the RAM, is it one stick of 2GB or 2 sticks of 1GB, do the part #'s match exactly. These things all make a difference when your trying to make it work. Hope this helps sort things out and if you need more help just ask.

Thanks for your response 1Bowtie.
Answers to your questions,
1. I had no idea about what is overclocking until I read your response, so no I am not overclocking at least not intentionally ( I will have to read more about overclocking to understand what it is ! )
2. If you have read my post, i have already said - I have been using 1 stick of 2GB RAM and today I bought another 2GB RAM stick which means 2 sticks of 2GBs. Both of their BUS speed is 1333 and both of them are by same manufacture Transcend.
Though my old 2GB RAM stick is almost 2 Year OLD model and the one I bought today is the latest model.
But I really don't understand why the new 2GB RAM stick is not working !?

Remove the new RAM stick and move the old RAM into the other slot and test. It could be that you have a bad slot without realising it, since it was previously unpopulated. If you don't get any errors, repeat with just the new RAM in each slot. Use MemTest 86+ to test, allowing it to run for a minimum of 3 full passes each time.

Dwarf Bro, I have checked every way possible with the new and old RAM stick to find out the problem but its all the same. I have 4 ram slots, on each slot the old RAM works but the new RAM doesn't works on any slot.
I am not familiar with MemTest 86+

Note : As I said before the new RAM stick works on other motherboard but its not working on my motherboard (Intel DP45SG)

Did you insert the new memory strip in the correct slot?
If you have 4 slots, they usually are colour coded as two white slots and two black slots. Use the existing memory strip as a clue. Say, it's in a white slot - then insert the new memory in the other vacant white slot.

PaulSoebekti Bro,
As I have said in my last reply
I have checked every way possible with the new and old RAM stick to find out the problem but its all the same. I have 4 ram slots, on each slot the old RAM works but the new RAM doesn't works on any slot.

I have 4 slot on my motherboard 2 black color and 2 blue color [ Blue/Black/Blue/Black ] and I have tried on every slot, but the new RAM doesn't work. It gives beep sound 2 to 3 time but monitor doesn't shows anything.

One more question, is the old ram the exact same spec's as the new ram you bought. For them to work together they have to be a matched pair, just because they are both 1333 doesn't mean they are a matched pair, the CL could be different, buffered or unbuffered, if the old ram was in the first blue slot then the second has to be placed in the other blue slot to make it dual channel.

Can you boot with just the new RAM installed? If so, then the problem is the two sticks don't play nice with each other. That's why kits exist, to ensure they play nice. Your only option is to by a stick that matches your old memory, or your new.

If it doesn't boot with the new RAM, the stick is either dead or not compatible with your board, based on density, voltage, etc. If this is the case, return it, and scour the web to find an identical stick like you have, or buy a kit.
