Successful Updates to Keep Repeating, Tried Everything I Can Find!

Hello:

I am having a very annoying issue where updates install successfully (verified in the update history), and then reappear for installation immediately after they are installed if you check for updates again. They also will show in the update history as having been installed multiple times if you try more than once (exact same KB#).

So far I have tried this:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/107982-clfs-transaction-logs-reset.html

I have tried the numerous suggestions clearing up the Software Distribution Folder and Catroot2.

I have run every MS fixit tool under the sun.

I have completely obliterated .NET from my machine, using all MS tools to remove, clean, repair, and reinstall each .NET package in proper order according to Technet.

I have used fixit tools to repair Windows Update, including properly stopping Cryptographic services, BITS, and WU services.

I have run CHKDSK and SFC.

I have used System restore.

I have tried to manually install updates in safe mode.

I have tried Windows repair.

I can hide the updates and they seem not to show again, but the moment more updates become available, I have to do it again. This means EVERY update that appears, I have to install, then check, then hide again.

I have a lot of stuff on here which would take a week or more to go through and redo if I have to reinstall Windows.

If I have left anything out here, it is likely I have tried it.

I only have a few patches of hair left that I have not yet pulled out.

Most of the MS boards have all the same suggestions which do not work, and obviously you cannot call tech support at MS and expect to get anywhere.

I have run the system update readiness tool, sfc as mentioned above, and I do NOT have any error codes, because the updates show successful installation. They just keep showing up and installing repeatedly. My log files are ready to share, but the zip file for the CBS folder is 4mb too large for the 8mb max allowed here.

Please help, and thanks in advance!

Thanks so much for the reply. Unfortunately, I found that thread before and already tried that also. I have tried about everything I can find within reason, and having some knowledge of Windows.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Here's the cause of at least some of your problems... (from the CheckSUR.log)
Code:

I can see no results for an SFC scan there?

Let's have a bit of a closer look at the registry...

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

Code:
REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Package_109_for_KB2904266~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1"
REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Package_110_for_KB2904266~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1"
REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Package_113_for_KB2904266~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1"
REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Packages\Package_114_for_KB2904266~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1"

.

Post the results...

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Hmm - no wonder Windows is having problems!
I suspect that this means that there is corruption present, rather than that the data is simply missing - but we can try to fix it.

I want a second opinion first, as this is a little beyond my usual range - so don't run away!

There are two ways to try the fix here - the 'minimalist' approach, and the 'full' approach.
with any luck, the minimal option will work (the 'full' option may cause other problems)

Please download SFCFix from here... http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe and save it to your desktop

I've uploaded a file - glfab.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract the contained file to your SFCFix location - which will create a SFCFix.txt file there.

Open the SFCFix location in Windows Explorer - and drag the SFCFix.txt file over onto the SFCFix.exe file - this should force SFCFix to run the file
It will create a new log file - please upload that.

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

No change :( It looks like the keys are corrupt, or we'd have been able to deal with them.

This makes life complicated, and the easiest/best solution is likely to be a repair install, as it's probable that there are other corrupt entries that just haven't revealed themselves yet.

Have a look at the instructions here... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R
