Is there a way to make superfetch only "fetch" applications and not the entire movie I watched the other day?

Why would you want to do that? Maybe you have the wrong understanding of what Superfetch does. May I suggest this article: SuperFetch: How it Works & Myths

I reccomend you keep superfetch on your computer fully as it doesnt slow your computer down, it helps it.

well I don't see how loading an entire movie into ram helps my computer I mean it is like 1.2 gigs of movie that I only watched once... would rather have the gimp, open office, and firefox instead. Why can't I choose what my computer "fetches"?

What makes you believe that movie is forever stored in your RAM?
Or that SuperFetch is even fetching this movie?
