Solved svchost.exe(netsvcs) problem cpu load high

Hello,

I have a problem. In the task manager -> system resources, I see that a process called svchost.exe(netsvcs) (if I'm correct) is using about 50% of cpu. The cpu is AMD dual core 2.81GHz.
This doesn't always happen. Right now, it uses 48 %. Should I be concerned? Is it a legitimate process or malware. Malwarebytes did not find anything at a quick scan.

Please help me with this metter.

EDIT: now, the all cpu load is 6%. Bitdefender online scanner found no infection...

Hi kenobi,

'Svchost.exe' is a generic process that calls 'Services' in Windows and one instance of that process may call 5 or more 'Services'. If critical 'Services' are being used, close to 50% of CPU usage may not be abnormal.

You may want to check the 'Services' that are related to this process at any given instance. To check the 'Services', running this 'Process', you may right click 'svchost.exe' and click 'Services'; related 'Services' will get highlighted. You may want to 'disable' the 'Services' that are not critical.

Hi Kenobi,

I noticed that this process took 100% of CPU usage for sometime after I started my system for the first time after fresh installation of Window 7 Professional.

After sometime it came back to normal I mean low.

Please advice if it's normal or not.

Hi,

I think if you are pretty sure you have no malware, then you shouldn't worry too much about cpu, memory usage. I'm not an expert to be honest.

You could ocasionally run a system scan.

In Process Explorer you can do mouse over on any svchost process to see what services it runs. You can also double-click one and go to the Services tab. And you can check all dll's it uses on Virustotal if you want, using the lower panel (Ctrl+L)

What processes & services are important Generally?

Hello All,

Thanks for your response. the process I have mentioned was staying at high initially after my computer was started and I logged in later it comes down to normal after some time.

Also I am planning to start & stop processes based on the programs I am using for please see below

If I open a program only the processes & services related to that program should be started and running other processes & Services( apart from critical for system to actually function ) should be stopped. and should be closed after I stopped using the program.

For example:

Oracle DB software starts many processes & services once we start DB Server and those processes & services will not be used after we close it or stop using it. So here I want to have a procedure or a mechanism that starts/stops related processes & services regards to the program I have opened.

Please advice.
