swap / Windows 7 x64

I wanna ask you if i could reduce the swap, i dont think i need that much.
Could i make it smaller ? Or maybe can i move it on the second HDD ?
For the OS i have 1 SSD OCZ Vertex 2 and i have 2 more HDD's Western Digital 6400 AAKS.
Please advice me what's the best way.

Pretty sure you could get away with a fixed 1GB size. You have plenty of RAM to run most things, at this point the pagefile would see little use besides
1. kernel dumps after crashing and
2. compatibility with software that expects pagefile.sys to exist no matter what.

And if i keep the swap on the SSD, can i reduce it to 3072 MB ?

Either way. It will really not be used a lot so there is no performance concern.

If you keep it on the SSD, make it 1GB

If you move it to the HDD, leave it full size - has the advantage that you get a memory dump in case of a BSOD

It you want to check your paging activities, open Resource Monitor > Memory tab. On the bottom right there is a graph (hard faults) which shows you the amount of page traffic. But be careful, some programs need the pagefile even if there is plenty of availyble RAM. So a zero allocation would not work.

PS: another way to gain space on the SSD is to remove the hiberfile. The command is: powercfg -h off

From my understanding, you don't need the pagefile to match your RAM just to get a memory dump...at least not the small memory dump anyway.

I did power -h off, i turned off system restore, i use Ccleaner, etc
Please, if you know some tricks how to get more free space, tell me.

Depends on where the space is going in the first place - use a tool like Spacemonger to get a good idea of where your disk space is going first, then we can make recommendations. Post screenshots, as it makes nice graphs .

Cluberti is right. We should first have a clue what is jamming your HDD. An average installation should be around 20GB. If you have a lot more, we should analyse the causes.

You can use Spacemonger or WinDirStat to get an idea.

If you turn the recovery points off (which is generally not a good idea), you should do frequent imaging of the OS and the data - at least once a week or more often.

All i wanted is to have the backup image ( with Acronis ) a bit smaller.
Now is 4,9 GB so i cannot burn it to 4,7 GB DVD

Ab image to DVD is not a good idea anyhow. You should use an external disk. If imaging should make any good sense, you have to do it frequently - and then DVDs are a mess.

This is not going to make you rich - but yes, you can delete them. You have to look for the big chunks.

You never said how much space is taken and how big your SSD is. And did you run one of the programs to find out what exactly is on the SSD.
