Why does Windows 7 have such a hard time going from DHCP to static? Right now I'm using DHCP with no issues. If I switch to a valid, static IP, Windows 7 thinks the network has changed. It puts me in the ridiculous Unidentified Network and I lose the ability to do anything on the network. I am a network admin with Cisco certifications and Windows behavior in this situation is beyond me.
How can I simply set a static IP on Windows 7?
