If anyone can assist in relation to offline files and synchronizing on windows 7 professional and server.

We currently have five Laptops that have been setup with offline files back to our server.
We use the Windows 7 Synchronizing program on the laptops.....
The issue we have is when a file is opened and then closed and saved for some reason the file is no longer there or has been removed from our server. It seems to return after a manual synchronize on the Laptop that had the file opened. Please help as we in need of a solution to this problem or if there is a great alternative to synchronisation software that is compatible and works similar to how the OLD XP system did.....
The old XP way of syncing was awesome.....

Regards Paul

I've seen lots of issues with the Windows Sync tool built into Windows. I would recommend looking into folder redirection rather than us a sync tool. In the case of Win7 & up, this can be set in libraries to make that target library a network location. If you have a Domain with Active Directory enabled on your server, managing true Folder Redirection is possible through Group Policy.

To gather more infor regarding this, what are you running as a Server. Does it have a Server OS on it, or is it a converted Desktop with a Desktop OS? What OS are the desktop machines running as well?
