System and update issues

Hi everyone. Forgive me if this is in the wrong subject area...but I have several issues. Typing this via my phone as my PC is frustrating me that much 😡

I have been unable to update since June (including leaving it checking/downloading untouched for 24hrs!) and recently my PC started getting temperamental. SFC says there's nothing wrong and no corrupt files, yet certain things won't run saying I have no administration and my startup folder has totally disappeared. Normally an update solves any problems I have...well, not this time!

I've tried EVERY hint, tip and guide I can find online to get the update installer to actually work, I have also tried to download the KB files mentioned by many, yet they just will not do anything. When I try the KB files it just sits detecting for several hours. I have even tried to upgrade to win10 and that won't even work either (sticks at 99%, but many others have had that problem too).

I really don't want to do a factory reset or be forced to do that and then up to 10 😞 any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Vixen,
sounds more like a malware problem, do a full scan with Bitdefender.
Then see if you can run ESET on-line, dissable Bitdefender.
Then use Malwarebytes free.
IF they all come back clean, i would suggest a repair install, as you have a custom install, use your discs.
