Hi all,
I have Auto Updates set to check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

I have NOT installed any updates since getting the PC as I am still trying to tweak it, will install the updates when I have it fully tweaked/customized.

I also have noticed that I think I get a restore point created each time the PC does a check for updates?

Is this actually what is happening when Auto Update is set to this setting?

This is causing the system to create too many of these RPs and drop off older ones I wanted to keep. I do not want to allocate any more disk space to the RPs.

If this is what is causing these RPs to be created, other than not checking for updates at all, is there any way to prevent these RPs from being created?

Never had this happen in Win XP!

Also, where on the HDD does windows store the windows updates removal files?
There were updates installed after the PC was originally loaded with the OS, but even with all files unhidden, I can not find the location of these updates uninstall files.

Tnx a bunch for your help!
Sincerely,
Cindy

Have you looked at Windows Update History to see if something did get updated when the "Windows Update" RPs were created?
Maybe MS Security Essentials definitions (if you use MSE)?
