any install you do from inside windows will save all your current data in the windows.old file and you should be able to extract all your drivers and updates from it.
You can back up your drivers with app.

I don't really want to back them up per se ... I did find this program which saved all the driver info in a txt file ... DriverView: Loaded Windows Drivers List
Repair install is in progress now...

Do you have a hard time finding you're drivers?
The only one I had to update manually was my nvidia driver.

I don't have a hard time finding them, but I don't always have the luxury of an Internet connection on this particular machine (being a laptop), and I'll need to know right away if drivers are missing (and which ones) so I can reinstall them.

Most if not all will be in the install or shortly thereafter in windows update, since
you need to be connected while doing the install, you should be good to go.
As long as you can keep it connected for a while after.
You can always check device manager to see if there are any little info triangles
next to your devices, then update what's necessary.

The potential problem being that some different devices are at different locations. I'll take care of it though, I should be able to remember what all the devices are that need special drivers.
It's not going to matter, because:
"The upgrade was not successful. Your previous version of Windows is being restored. Do not restart your computer during this time."
Any ideas for Plan B?
I will try the first option later, since I have some other stuff to do today. The custom and clean installs aren't an option, unfortunately, on this machine because it takes a very long time to set up properly. Thanks for all your help thus far!
